Amesbury Shines with a debut Winter Light Trail

What a weekend!

On 27th and 28th February 2026, the Stonehenge Chamber transformed Lords Walk into a glowing sanctuary, bringing a much-needed burst of winter magic to our community. Despite some challenging weather, the Amesbury Winter Light Trail welcomed over 2,300 visitors who came out to explore the stunning light presentations and soak up the atmosphere.

The event was a true testament to community resilience. Kicking off on Friday under 'challenging' conditions with intermittent rain and muddy paths. 860 dedicated supporters turned out to experience the trail's debut.

After a quick "learning session", our team jumped into action on Saturday. By adding extra wood chippings to the paths and opening more ticket slots, we saw a 69% increase in attendance, with 1,452 visitors enjoying a much drier, though chillier, evening.

It was wonderful to see such a diverse crowd, with a consistent ratio of approximately 60% adults to 40% children (and plenty of well-behaved dogs!) enjoying the sights.

This event was truly "community-led," and it wouldn't have been possible without our incredible team of volunteers and traders who worked tirelessly to bring the magic to life.

A massive, heartfelt credit to Chris, Production Lead at Stonehenge Chamber committee. Without Chris's vision and dedication, this event simply would not have happened. Chris worked day and night, poured every ounce of energy into the trail, and ensured that every bulb and display was as magical as it could be for our residents.

The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many parents sharing how much their children "loved it" and appreciating that a donation-based event made the magic accessible to everyone.

We aren't stopping here! We are already looking at ways to make the next trail even more fabulous by learning from this experience.

Future plans include:

● Improving wheelchair access to ensure everyone can enjoy the full trail

● Repositioning vendors to reduce congestion and keep the flow moving smoothly

● Fine-tuning sound and lighting to be even more mindful of our local residents.

When Amesbury comes together, it truly shines. Thank you for making our first Winter Light Trail a weekend to remember!
